Magnificent Meteor Shower

Perseid Meteor Shower is expected to be magnificent August 10-12, 2016.  Every August, stargazers alike enjoy the annual Perseid Meteor Show! This year, NASA reports that we should see an “outburst” of meteors. An “outburst” is an unusually high number of meteors. We should see twice as many meteors than we usually see this time of year. The last time an outburst occured was 2009. It’s not expected again until 2027 or so.

Get away from the city lights and make a reservation at Greenwood Acres Family Campground, (517) 522-8600. It will be easier to see this spectacular shower between midnight and dawn. Unroll a sleeping bag onto the ground; lie back, look up and get ready for an impressive celestial event! (Remember to allow 30-45 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark).
